Medicines - Are they good for us?

What does the bible say about medicine?

The Greek word for medicine is pharmakeia...and we can find that word in a few verses in the Bible.  So what does the bible say about medications?

Rev 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, [pharmakeia], nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries, [pharmakeia], were all nations deceived.

Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, [pharmakeia] hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of YHWH.

I was amazed when I first saw these verses. It took a couple of years and some horrific experiences to realize that the Bible isn't exaggerating...drugs really are that evil. Have you heard the list of side effects? Has your doctor ever made light of those side effects and asked you to take the drug anyway? Has he then recommended another drug for the treatment of the side effects from the first and so on....get the picture?.

But with that I also caution against going cold turkey off medicines as that can be just as toxic. Instead one by one work your way towards finding natural solutions, replacing the meds that you are on. Be careful, study and be smart.

Absolutely...
Eze 47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

another verse points out using a little wine...
1Ti 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

The best medicine of all though, is to follow the ways of YHWH so that we are under His blessings not cursed. If we learn all His ways and follow all He has asked He promises to bless us.

Exo 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of YHWH, [the name of our Father in Heaven], thy Elohim [Hebrew term for Supreme Being far more accurate than god], and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am YHWH that healeth thee.

Deu 7:11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
Deu 7:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that YHWH thy Elohim shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
Deu 7:13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
Deu 7:14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
Deu 7:15 And YHWH will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
Deu 7:16 And thou shalt consume all the people which YHWH thy Elohim shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their elohim; for that will be a snare unto thee.

Psa 91:9 Because thou hast made YHWH, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
Psa 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Notice in each verse that the blessing is in direct relationship with the choices we make. IF we follow Him and do as He asks THEN he will protect us from the evil and plagues. There is a lot of tradition of man out there, it is our responsibility to search the word daily and prove whether what we are taught is right or wrong and seek to please Him with all our heart.

Mar 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of YHWH, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after the Messiah.
But has our Father in Heaven given as herbs to heal?
