Once Saved Always Saved - really??

I had heard brethren mention that this had been preached but until recently I had never heard anyone actually believe this statement. What does the Bible say about it?

Once saved always saved was brought up to me during my last stay in Texas, so it seems appropriate to add a page about it.

To this person there wasn't much of an oppourtunity to say much, other than remind her of a few verses...

Exo 32:32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
Exo 32:33 And YHWH said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Psa 69:28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

Psa 109:13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

There are people who have been written in the book of life...but will be blotted out. Not only can we be blotted out of the book of the living...but many are called and few are choosen.

Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

Will you be chosen?

1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments [the greek word here entole meaning an instrument of an end goal or a prescription] dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

How do we stay on His good side so that we do not get blotted out?

Joh 14:23 YHW'shuaH answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Joh 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1Jn 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
1Jn 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of YHWH sinneth not; but he that is begotten of YHWH keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1Jn 5:19 And we know that we are of YHWH, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

We are to learn what is sin and do not do it.

Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Joh 9:41 YHW'shuaH said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

There is also a difference of being blind (not having the ability), and having the ability but not searching diligently to learn right from wrong...to him it is sin and he will have a reproof...

Luk 12:47 And that servant, which knew his master's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
Luk 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Didn't the Messiah come to do away with the commandments?

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil, [Greek pleroo, to supply or fill up].
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled, [Greek genomai, meaning to generate, come into being, become].

Has heaven and earth passed away? The Messiah just told us He did not come to destroy the law, and even the smallest point in the law remains in effect as long as there is heaven and earth.

But if I stand in Faith, I do not need the law, right?
Amazing how the enemy, the great deceiver, rearranges the words to mislead. It is so important that we trust no man and take each verse that is preached to us back to the Word and test if it is so.
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? By no means: yea, we establish [the word establish is Greek histeme, and means to stand in], the law.

It is through faith that we stand in the law. But the deceiver does not wish for us to stand in righteousness.

Act 13:10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of YHWH?

And know, faith is shown through the fruits of our works when we stand in righteousness. Doing the right thing is difficult and it takes faith to stay on that path, especially when the adversary comes and tries to intimidate us or derail us.

Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one Elohim; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Jas 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Jas 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
Jas 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed YHWH, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of YHWH.
Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Jas 2:25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Go and show our Father in Heaven that we have faith through our works and show our love of Him by learning His ways and following His prescriptions for life. HalleluYaH
