Witnessing - How should we witness?

Just as there are different people and different styles of learning, there are also different styles for teaching. However, the Bible does lay out a few pointers to help us speak about the Word.

Jas 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Jas 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

What a fantastic verse above...help a brother or sister to see an err and it shall hide a multitude of sins. But how do we do this? More than once I have seen people who should be on the same team loving each other...beating each other up with their thoughts on a verse. This is not of YHWH but of the enemy trying to prevent the truth from being heard.

2Ti 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
2Ti 2:24 And the servant of YHWH must not strive; but be gentle unto all men,
apt to teach, patient,
2Ti 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if YHWH peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Instructing in kindness and meekness, so that the end result is that the person can RECOVER out of the snare of the devil. Present the info, then let it rest, if the info given was correct and they have the Spirit to want to learn, they will get it in time.

1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is righteousness: from such withdraw thyself.

2Ti 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more wickedness.

Important to note from the verses above, we are not here to prove who is right or wrong, or be argumentative, or post and run, we are here to gently and lovingly teach and make students of the Word. Withdraw when witnessing turns contentious. Contention is not the Spirit of YHWH.

One of the most common mistakes that a witness can make is to get so excited as to spill out all that the Father has taught them...thereby drowning the very soul they are trying to save. But as one comes to the Word as a new babe they should be served milk not meat...precept upon precept, as they are ready to hear.

Isa 28:13 But the word of YHWH was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

1Co 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

What about if we know the info is right, the verses are clear, but the person just doesn't get it?

Free will means we do not have to force anyone to see it. We are to be gentle and loving, it is possible that in a week, a year or even longer they may remember what you said and RECOVER from the snare of the enemy. But some people for what ever reason are not willing to receive it, for those the Father will send the delusion they want to see.

2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause YHWH shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

If we are to teach are we then a rabbi?

NOT at all! We are to teach all that we know and make students of the Word, we have but one Rabbi and that is the Messiah! So teach what He has taught you, and teach them HOW to depend on Him for instruction...to think that we NEED a person to teach us is leading away from the Messiah being the teacher.

Mat 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Rabbi, even the Messiah; and all ye are brethren.

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of YHWH: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of YHWH, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of the Messiah.

But what happens when I witness and they call me names, they judge me and hurt my feelings?

That may happen as darkness does not like the light. But it is not YOU that they are persecuting as we are here fighting against principalities and powers.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

And when this evil spirit kicks and throws its punches count yourself worthy of the Messiah by not responding with hate, but staying in His love and gentle Spirit.

2Th 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our Elohim would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
2Th 1:12 That the name of our Master YHW'shuaH the Messiah may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the favour of our Elohim and the Master YHW'shuaH the Messiah.

Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

And rather than fighting back with the spirit of the enemy, present and withdraw yourself in love, and peace and dust yourself off from the attack and let your peace return to you and leave that place...hold no grudge or anger, and witness at the next door that the Father opens for you. How sad is it to know that if they do not come to the Father...they will perish, and with the love of the Father we do not desire that any should perish.

Mat 10:13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
Mat 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
Mat 10:15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
Mat 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Mat 10:17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

Do not exalt yourself, remember we are to teach what we know...but the Messiah is our teacher, we are all still students, still learning our way. Almost all of us came from the deception, we must be gentle remembering we too, are still in error somewhere.

And a favorite verse that I feel is important to add...

Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know ye YHWH: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

A time will come when the teaching will be done and all will know YHWH and His ways.

HalleluYaH!!

Jer 8:11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
